deaf culture

The deaf culture

In the world live millions of deaf people whose first language can not be a spoken language, so they adopt alternative forms of visual communication. This leads them to develop peculiar customs and values, which tend to become traditions. It is what we understand as a deaf culture. With their sign languages, the deaf make up linguistic minorities. The deaf is not a sick person: he is rather a foreigner.
